Reverend Norman N. Robinson was born in Washington, D.C.,
the last of four children to the late Dr. Raymond R. and Clara L. Robinson.
Educated in the public schools of Washington, D.C., Reverend Robinson
received his Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary and Secondary
Physical Education from the D.C. Teacher’s College. He received his Masters
of Education from American University in Special Education. Reverend
Robinson attended the Howard University School of Divinity.
He taught in the D.C. Public Schools from 1972-1980. In 1981, he began
teaching at the Cheltenham Center on the grounds of Boy’s Village in Prince
Georges County. He continued his educational career in the county as a
coordinator of two special education diagnostic wings for learning disabled
children. His success prompted the opening of another diagnostic wing at
Oxon Hill Elementary School upon the request of the Director of Special
Education. Reverend Robinson was a Crisis Intervention Teacher at North
Forestville Elementary School wing for seriously emotionally disturbed
children for twelve years and has trained many teachers in techniques for
dealing with disruptive students. He was later appointed to the position of
Itinerant Crisis Intervention Teacher to train other crisis intervention
teachers in Prince Georges County. He is also a certified instructor in
nonviolent crisis intervention techniques.
He accepted Christ early in life and his spiritual growth occurred at Israel
Baptist Church (Washington, D.C.), the church of his father, the late Dr.
Raymond R. Robinson, who pastored Israel for thirty-nine years. He accepted
his call to the gospel ministry well grounded from a long history of
pro-active participation in the church as an auxiliary member, junior
deacon, Sunday school teacher, choir member/director, youth minister, deacon
and associate minister.
Reverend Robinson was called to serve as the interim Pastor of the Mount
Olive Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. from 1992-1995. In addition to his
service to Mount Olive, he provided devotional services for handicapped
senior citizens at the Capitol Hill Convalescent Care Center every fifth
Sunday. After completing his interim pastorate at Mount Olive Baptist,
Reverend Robinson and his family joined the fellowship of the Fort Foote
Baptist Church where he currently serves as the Assistant to the Pastor.
He supports the Pastor as the minister's trainer,
Minister of Counseling, Assistant Director of Christian Education and as a
Sunday school teacher of high school students.
Reverend Robinson gives God the praise for his loving wife and his two
wonderful daughters, Nicole and Natalie. His daily prayer is that God will
allow him to be a humble and available servant. He stands on Romans 1:16
which states “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the
power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first and
also for the Greek”. |
