The Fort Foote Baptist Church Deacon Body consists of men who are first called by God, then approved by the Church in accordance with Acts 6:1-7. The Deacon's role is a servant role. They serve under the leadership and spiritual direction of the Pastor, in prayer, support, and fellowship. Each Deacon is assigned a number of families to have watch over and to assist with their needs. The Deacon Family Ministry is designed to promote peace, harmony and a spirit of cooperation and unity among the membership. The Deacons also lead the Church in the achievement of it's mission, to minister the Gospel to believers and unbelievers, to care for the Church members and others in the community, and to be consistent examples as Christian role models in the church.
The Deacons are charged with the oversight of all the ministries in the Church to ensure that they are functioning in accordance with the word of God and that the Ministries will bring honor and glory to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The Deacons are charged with being peacemakers in times of conflict and to prayerfully find resolution. The office of the Deacon demands a high level of commitment, a mature knowledge of the faith, and dedication to fellowship and service.
1 Timothy 3:13 summarizes it best-- " For those who have served well as Deacons obtain for themselves a high standing and great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus, The service of the Deacon is one of the richest and most rewarding walks with the Lord.
